About Long Island Chiropractor Dr. Todd Goldman
I know so many things about my patients not just about the medical issues they have but also about their personal lives as well, so I figured I’ll tell you a little bit of my life as well.
I played competitive sports for years and after a while, it took a toll on my body, especially my lower back. Getting adjusted gave me the relief I needed to become pain-free. One day in 2010 I was working out when I twisted the wrong way and felt a warm sensation down my right leg and had some pain in my low back. I got adjusted and felt better. After the weeks went on, the pain started getting worse I got adjusted and the pain stayed about the same and also I started to notice my right foot was dropping a bit. I knew it was time for an MRI.
I got the results and it showed I had a huge herniation on the L4-L5 disc along with a big fragment that broke off and was hitting one of the nerves in my low back. As the pain became worse and my foot drop increased I realized I needed surgery. I had a microdiscectomy which took care of the pain and foot drop. I’m now back to getting chiropractic treatments for my aches and pains. Some people may think that’s crazy a chiropractor having low back surgery, but I think it’s beneficial to let my patients know that at my office we are realistic about our expectations and if you truly need surgery or another procedure we will be honest with you and not just drag out your care without getting positive results.
On the personal side, I got married to my wife Arlyn in 2000 and have 2 awesome boys Nate and Noah. My wife is an interior designer which helps because I’m color blind or at least that’s what I say when I put on one blue sock and one black sock. One of my favorite hobbies is flying airplanes. I feel relaxed when I fly, it’s a great feeling when you’re flying above the clouds and you’re in total control of this thing that’s defying gravity. I also started taking up tennis this past winter. When I was a kid I was a good player but I haven’t played since I was about 12 years old. My friends keep on asking me to play golf but the last time I played I got my club stuck in a tree (I wonder how that got there).
